Coping with Glaucoma

This is a story about the "silent thief of sight", an insidious eye disease that strikes without warning, without symptoms.  Fifty million people worldwide have glaucoma, and as the population both grows in numbers and lives longer, the incidence of the disease is on the rise.  And yet, for some reason, it has not become a part of our collective public health consciousness.

Reviews:  COPING WITH GLAUCOMA

“Edith Marks, author of Coping with Glaucoma….offers tips on  starting a glaucoma support group and lists numerous helpful organizations, including support groups in seven states.”

The New York Times, January 20, 1998.

“This book was certainly an eye-opener (no pun intended) because there are about three million people afflicted with glaucoma and half of them don’t even know it….This book contains probably everything a layperson needs to know about glaucoma, be it a primary or a secondary condition.”

The Library Letter, Winter,1998/1999,
Bastyr University Library.

“My special gift for my reader is Coping With Glaucoma….which contains not only a guide to living with glaucoma but also contains references for those wishing to do more reading….

Carib Health, December 23, 1997

“Finally a comprehensive book for glaucoma patients is now available….is a meaty and compassionate book.”

National Association for the Visually Handicapped, Winter, 1997/98.

Coping With Glaucoma….contains a wealth of information, both basic and clinical, concerning all aspects of the disease.”

North County Times, Escondido, CA., 10/12/97.

Coping with Glaucoma is unusually comprehensive, and well-researched, with the added weight of the authors’ own experiences….have provided invaluable information and advice for glaucoma sufferers everywhere.”

Townsend Letter for Doctors & Patients, June 1998.

“Another way this book is unique is the chapter on nutrition.  Optometrists tend to be more open to nutrition as a form of treatment than ophthalmologists are.”

20/20, March, 1998.
